“Where you are born is where you belong” — in my case, that is the beautiful Latgale region in the eastern part of Latvia.
Thank you for subscribing to the Biolett page — our organic farm.
My name is Gelena Konopecka, and you probably know me in another role: as a friend, colleague, or perhaps a neighbor. Biolett is a company in Latvia, my homeland. The name is composed of the words “Bio”— meaning organic products — and “Latvia” in German (Lettland). And here, in the village of Naujene in the Latgale region, is our farm, which my husband Günther and I run.
I inherited the land in this eastern part of Latvia from my parents. My father’s family once lived here — my Polish grandmother and my Latgalian grandfather. I spent my childhood summers with them. And now, Günther and I are building our future here.
It all began and developed like a hobby, because we love a healthy lifestyle and wanted to produce our own organic products. But then it became serious — we became a farming business. In Naujene, we are close to nature, and we maintain strong connections with people in the neighborhood.
On this page, I would like to share our experiences with you: how it all began and how it continues, what has succeeded, and what our biggest challenges have been. I will also talk about future plans and projects. Thank you for your interest in our story!
